Dilated Peoples is a new, hot hip-hop band from Los Angeles. The West Coast has a famous rap scene, and the members of Dilated Peoples are quickly making a name for themselves. Check out their beats, especially: all the members were originally solo DJs, so their sampling and scratching is top notch.

Steve Ison

Steve Ison is a new acoustic pop artist from the UK.  His music tends to be sunny and laid-back, but some of his songs have surprisingly intense moments.  Ison is also old-school: according to his site, his songs are all recorded on an 8-track in his bedroom.  If you like Jack Johnson and Death Cab, be sure to check out Steve Ison.

The Voom Blooms

The Voom Blooms are a great pop quartet from the hip UK music scene.  Their tunes are a catchy combination of punk energy and Beatles bounce, with just enough electronics to make things interesting.  While the band is unsigned, Rolling Stone recently included them in the magazine’s list of the 25 best bands on MySpace.  Check them out here:
