You view 1979 as a sad, heartbreak type song? I always viewed it as an ode to the restlessness and almost eternal optimism of youth. It’s an interesting take to see it on a playlist like this.

I see what you’re saying. But I feel like the tone of the song doesn’t reflect the lyrics which do act as an “ode to recklessness” and what not. Meaning, when I listen to the song, I feel sad, or touched rather. Maybe it’s just me. Thanks for the input though.
